Ruth Nunez has lived and worked in the Bay Area for 14 years. A mother of two, Ruth relies on accessible MUNI buses and wheelchair ramps or “curb cuts” in the sidewalk to get to her job in the Polk Gulch neighborhood. Infrastructure improvements allow Ruth to provide for her family, and through her job provide residential services to homeless and runaway youth.
Ruth believes that removing barriers to accessibility gives her the freedom and independence to work, buy groceries, take care of the basics, and feel included in the community.
