Staff Resources

The Capital Plan’s citywide view helps deliver more stable funding, stronger pre-bond planning, and better coordination on major projects and programs. Staff may be asked to contribute to the Capital Planning process by submitting requests for the 10 Year Capital Plan or 2 Year Capital Budget, updating facility information, verifying estimates, or providing project status updates. These contributions help define the City’s needs and set expectations for departments, external stakeholders, and elected officials.

Preparation of a full Capital Plan occurs every other year.  Fiscal Year 2013-14 is a Capital Plan ”Off-Year”.


Sept 16:    Capital Plan Kick Off Meeting
Sept 19:    FRRM: Training @ 30 Van Ness, 5th flr
Sept 12:   Contact list updates due
Oct 18:     FRRM updates due
Nov 22:    Capital Plan “Off-Year” updates due to CPP staff (via email or phone)*
Early Dec:      Capital Budget instructions released
Dec – Feb:     CPP staff review ”Off-Year” Capital Plan updates
Jan – March:  CPC reviews “Off-Year” Capital Plan updates, as needed
Jan 17:     Capital Budget requests due in CPRd
Jan-March:     CPP staff work with depts to analyze budget requests 
March – May:  CPC review of budget requests & staff recommendations
Mid-May:        CPC finalizes Budget recommendations 
End of May:    Capital projects uploaded into the Budget System

* FY 2013-14 is a Capital Plan “Off-Year.” CPP staff will review potential changes and provide CPC members with updates on any major changes between January & March.  Depts should reach out to CPP staff about any potentially signifcant changes to CPP (via phone or email). Depts should NOT update CPRd with potential Capital Plan changes.
